I was born in Hamburg in 1964 and grew up in Berlin.
Before finding my ideal profession as an illustrator, I did some detours.
First i was trained in cabinet making and worked as a joiner and as a ship’s carpenter on tall sailing ships for several years.
Later I studied illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Armgartstrasse).
I now live in Berlin and have two sons.
Drawing comics had been my favorite during my first years as an illustrator.
In Hamburg we had several big comic exhibitions which were good fun.
Unfortunately it is difficult to earn money with comics.
For some years now, illustrating schoolbooks has been a major part of my work. Since 1996, I have been producing a monthly double-page quiz illustration for GEOlino – a children’s magazine.
Another specialization is storyboarding for international film directors.
I generally draw manually with watercolours/acrylique/gouache on paper/canvas and then process these professionally into a digital form.
Please have a look at „clients“ to see a list of companies I have worked for, and at „publications“ for school books and other books I have illustrated.
I won a L+M Comicprize in 1996, and some other prices for commercial and book illustration.
